ALI BUCKMAN, LCSW
Ali is a psychotherapist with over 11 years of experience working individually and in group settings with a diverse population of clients and specializes in working with adolescents, young adults and adults who suffer from eating disorders and body image issues, depression, anxiety and self-injury, as well as individuals struggling with life transitions and difficulties related to sexual orientation and the coming out process. She has additional experience and training in holistic nutrition, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Craniosacral Therapy and psychodrama/drama therapy techniques.
Ali provides individual, couples and family counseling sessions. In addition, she also offers sessions that incorporate the therapeutic modalities of yoga, the LifeLine Technique™, the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and other energy healing techniques as supplements to more traditional talk-therapy methods. Each of these techniques allows clients to develop a deeper connection to emotions trapped within the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind creates holding patterns from past traumas, and it is often the fear of feeling and expressing deep-rooted emotions that causes symptoms and stress in a client's body and relationships in their life. With the use of these modalities in conjunction with traditional talk-therapy, the client is provided with experiential opportunities to safely feel their emotions “in-the-moment” and discover a new level of healing and self-awareness.
Throughout the therapeutic process, Ali encourages clients to use awareness to open up to new and alternative ways of being. Through an exploration of the past and present, she hopes that each client will uncover insight into their thoughts, emotions and behavior that will empower and support them in transforming their lives.
